The onion skins' capacity to colour fabric was one of the most important findings after research into this crop. We are repurposing waste by giving it a longer life cycle through the use of onion skins for dyeing. We designed and made an onion skin dyed gardening apron while also drawing inspiration from the biological structure of the onion to add pockets and other features that can enhance one's gardening experience. We used the techniques we learned in class to sew the apron, screen print the Garden Garb logo on onion skin dyed fabric, and dye the fabric to create the finished item you see below.
